This paper describes the development of the organisational gap model for hotel management. It descries a management measurement instrument that helps to assess the 3 organizational service gaps that are preconditions for delivering service quality (the positioning gap, specification gap and evaluation gap). The described theoretical model was constructed based upon the four organisational gaps of the Parasuraman et al. service quality model, then redefined and reassessed. Data were gathered on the sample of 500 questionnaires from the Slovenian hotel industry and analysed with exploratory factor analysis and structural equation modelling. The results can be useful guidelines for hotel management on how to improve the service delivery process.service quality model, organisational gaps, multivariate analysis, hotel industry

Purpose ā€“ Slovenian tourism stakeholders are faced with challenges on how best to implement changes to the existing AC system. There is currently a lack of empirical evidence for how tourism stakeholders across the spectrum understand AC systems and the changes they should undergo. This study fulfils that deficiency by investigating the opinions of key tourism stakeholders about the AC system in Slovenia and the changes needed. Design/methodology ā€“ Opinions were gathered using an online survey that was sent to the web contact addresses of 1,475 accommodation providers and tourist organizations. The results are presented using statistical methods such as chi-square test and one-way ANOVA. Findings ā€“ The results of the ANOVA test show no statistically significant differences in different respondent opinions on the current AC system. The survey revealed that the majority of Slovenian tourism stakeholders want the implementation of the harmonised European Hotelstars classification system but this was not the case for all the groups. Originality of the research ā€“ This study is one of the few studies to investigate the opinion of tourism stakeholders on an AC system

    Ocenjevanje kakovosti v gostinstvu

    Get PDF

This paper aims at presenting cruise tourism in Slovenia. Slovenia has a small coastal strip (46 km), which is the reason why there are only a limited number of ports. The only passenger terminal for large cruise ships is located in the Port of Koper. Cruise tourism started in Slovenia in 2015. Since the beginning, the number of cruise ships has grown substantially. The aim of the study is to investigate the impacts of cruise tourism in the city of Koper, as perceived by local tourism stakeholders. The results have shown that there is still a strong support to develop this sector of tourism

This article is dedicated to presenting nautical tourism in Slovenia. The basic purpose is to evaluate the extent of nautical tourism, since data on this type of tourism in Slovenia are lacking. Slovenia has three marinas, a few moorings and a passenger terminal. Despite its small coastal strip (46 km), all forms of nautical tourism are represented. This article consists of theoretical and analytical work. The theoretical part presents a number of basic definitions relating to nautical tourism and cruises. This work will also present the development of this form of tourism in Slovenia to date. Sloveniaā€™s first marina was built in 1979 in Portorož, while cruise tourism in Slovenia began later, in 2005. Due to its diversity in a small area, Slovenia is an ideal starting point for (maritime) excursions. In the analytical part, numerical traffic data for the period 2005 to 2015 from marinas and the Port of Koper have been collated and analysed. This work is based on data collected by the marinas themselves, since the official nautical traffic statistics are not recorded. The main results of our analysis indicate that nautical tourism in Slovenia has experienced a large decline since 2005. The exception is cruise tourism, which has shown strong growth
